MESBG: The Army of the Dead

"I see shapes of Men and of horses, and pale banners like shreds of cloud, and spears like winter-thickets on a misty night. The Dead are following."

Welcome to the easiest and quickest mini-army project I have ever done!
According to my project journal, I painted these on the 08.12.21, but I still want to share them because I like the long-term idea of putting my entire collection up on this blog.

I'm slowly growing my MESBG collection and the army of the dead are perfect for mixed armies and as a battle company. I don't have any mounted troops or a banner bearer, but these can be kitbashed if necessary.

The minis are a mix of the old metal sculpts and the newer plastic kit from the Pelenor Fields boxset.

Paint Scheme
Very simple and easy to batch paint:

  1. White Primer
  2. Hexwraith Flame (GW technical) over the entire model
  3. Coelia Greenshade (GW wash) on small details to break up the monotony
  4. Overall drybrush with an off-white (Vallejo Ivory in my case)

The base is equally simple with Vallejo Earth Texture followed by a Tyrant Skull drybrush.

The Solo Tabletop Oracle

Color Variant 1 Practically every solo session I play, I utilize at least one oracle for inspiration or to fill any story gaps that need answers. Oftentimes, they are the driving narrative factor and influence much more than the game system itself. I have a binder with printed oracles from a variety of different sources that get regular use. All of them have aspects I like, but none of them are exactly  what I want. Having to shuffle through all these oracles can get quite cumbersome, and I wanted a better solution. In the end, I wrote my own oracle that gave me all the information I wanted on a single A4 sheet. I would love to hear your stories and feedback if you use it in your own gaming sessions. Update December 2023 As part of the GEMulator V1.1 update, I've also updated my main oracle sheet. ( more details ) Don't worry, the old version is still available at the download links below.
