Warhammer 40k: Haemotrope Reactor

An eye-catching centerpiece perfect for any science fiction table.

The next scenario for my Five Parsecs from Home campaign needs an industrial terrain piece as an objective. Technically, it called for a hyper-rail station, but I don't have anything like that in my collection and I didn't want to spend the time to custom-build one.

The Haemotrope Reactor came from the Warhammer Imperium magazine, and I really like the look of it. It will fit pretty much any sci-fi table, and I'm sure that it will make plenty of appearances on this blog.

Please excuse the mediocre pictures. The entire thing didn't fit into my small lightbox and my phone doesn't have a great camera.

I could have spent a ton more time on this piece, especially on the black/white parts. I messed up with a wash over the white parts and had to repaint pretty much all of them. They're not even close to smooth and the black could really use a highlight. Most of the cables could use some more love as well and and and…

Pictures really show every mistake, which is why it's important to limit yourself to a certain standard. My main goal for this terrain piece was to get a playable objective for my next scenario. It had to look good on the table and be done in a reasonable time span. I think I achieved both goals.

The Solo Tabletop Oracle

Color Variant 1 Practically every solo session I play, I utilize at least one oracle for inspiration or to fill any story gaps that need answers. Oftentimes, they are the driving narrative factor and influence much more than the game system itself. I have a binder with printed oracles from a variety of different sources that get regular use. All of them have aspects I like, but none of them are exactly  what I want. Having to shuffle through all these oracles can get quite cumbersome, and I wanted a better solution. In the end, I wrote my own oracle that gave me all the information I wanted on a single A4 sheet. I would love to hear your stories and feedback if you use it in your own gaming sessions. Update December 2023 As part of the GEMulator V1.1 update, I've also updated my main oracle sheet. ( more details ) Don't worry, the old version is still available at the download links below.
